I know the year is not yet over, and I still have a pretty long list of what I’d like to accomplish this year. However, it’s also a great time for a recap! At the end of the article, I’ll also share my revenue breakdown for DATAcated!
2023 has been an exceptional year for me, filled with both professional accomplishments and personal growth.
Here are some of the highlights:
Professional Milestones and Collaborations
Engaging Shows and Partnerships: Collaborating with clients to put together creative and unique content, including a cooking show, specialty coffee show, building a sandcastle, playing with Lego, and more!
Speaking Engagements and Presentations: Speaking at Data Connect in Ohio about personal branding and presenting at Big Data London on ColorWise - the last inch of data analytics. I also got to do a book signing at these events.
Corporate Collaborations: I worked with MANY new clients from a media perspective, to help them with brand awareness, content creation, and content amplification.
Data Katas and Charitable Impact: Hosted exciting data visualization competition (O’Reilly Data Katas), where the primary goal was to support a nonprofit animal shelter. This project not only showcased the power of data but also its potential for social good.
Leading an Industry Conference: Hosted the DATAcated Healthcare industry conference; which provided a platform for sharing insights and networking with industry leaders.
Courses: Launched my third LinkedIn Learning course, focusing on Alteryx Tips & Tricks. It also allowed me the opportunity to hang out in California.
Personal Achievements and Adventures
Time in Nature: I went on several hiking trips, reconnecting with the outdoors and focusing on fitness.
Family Time and Balance: Spending the summer at the lake with my family was a highlight for me this year.
Creative Ventures and Recognition: Receiving the YouTube Silver Play Button for reaching 100,000 subscribers was a proud moment.
Memorable Experiences: Driving to see Elephant Rock at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas was AMAZING.
Guitar Skills: Participating in Tech Tackles Cancer in Boston with my new electric guitar - playing Blitzkrieg Bop with Chris Lynch, CEO of AtScale was fun!
More Projects this Year
For the rest of the year, I still have a few projects that I want to tackle, including:
Creating 100 videos for the Owl about data video series with Ted - for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. I plan to talk about what data/ AI companies actually do!
DATAcated Brandification - Personal branding course for leaders in data and AI companies - helping them grow their brand on social media.
Generative AI for data visualization/ storytelling course for the DATAcated Circle.
And of course, continue generating content for my media clients!
Revenue Breakdown
In 2023, I was able to beat my own record financially (highest annual sales since my start in March 2020). The best part is … I worked A LOT LESS than I had in the previous years. The way I accomplished this was through strategic systems and processes that enabled me to become more efficient in how I tackle projects. I’m also more selective in the clients I take on in my business.
Here is a breakdown of the revenue for the year:
