Yesterday, I posted about the upcoming Gartner Data & Analytics Summit. Here is the post:
I asked my audience to tag their company and let us know why we should stop by their booth next week.
This post allows everyone to see all of the exhibitors at the event and helps start conversations.
What I did next was NOT close my laptop and hope for the best. I needed to make sure that people from some of these companies actually did what I asked - which would encourage OTHERS to follow suit.
I reached out to over 80 individuals across 50 companies represented here! Yes I went one by one and shared the link to the post, asking them to comment!
How did I find these people? In some cases they were people I worked with and already knew pretty well. In other cases, they were listed as speakers at the Gartner Summit (so I knew they’d be there next week) and sometimes they were just people that worked for the company.
Did it work? YES!!!
I had several comments come through right away - which is pretty good for a Saturday afternoon :)
I made this into a WIN WIN WIN situation - a WIN for Gartner - to get people talking about the upcoming event, a WIN for the exhibitors that get another platform to tell people about their cool product / service, and a double WIN for me because my post got engagement and I built more relationships with clients. NOTE: When I was sending the messages out to people I wasn’t connected with on LinkedIn, I also made sure to send a connection request.
The bonus of the exercise is that I now have several new connections in the space, and I chatted with a few people that will be in Orlando so I’ll have more familiar faces around. I also learned about a few new companies that I haven’t worked with yot, that could be potential clients for DATAcated.
