New LinkedIn Learning Course
Day 1 of my 5-Day AI Data Viz Challenge is live
So, my new LinkedIn Learning course went live TODAY, and I’d love for you to start it while it’s actually day one, because the whole thing is built to be done in real time alongside everyone else.
It’s called AI in the Flow of Data Visualization: 5 Days to More Persuasive Charts. One small win per day for five days, about three minutes of video each, and at the end of the week your charts are sharper, more accessible, and a lot more persuasive than what most people are putting out.
What Day 1 covers
Day 1 is about using AI to pick the right chart type. In the video I walk through the exact prompt I use to get three ranked chart recommendations with the tradeoffs explained, plus the charts to AVOID for that particular dataset. It takes about two minutes, and you can run it on a chart you’re already working on right now.
I’m not going to give away days 2 through 5 here, but I’ll say this much. One of them introduces a FREE tool built by Adobe that I genuinely think every chart maker should have bookmarked, one of them takes 60 seconds and is probably the biggest upgrade you’ll make to your charts all week, and the final day is the one that ties everything together. You’ll have to click through to see the rest :)
Why I made this one
I recorded the whole course in my house, which was a really good time and also a nice reminder that you don’t need a studio to create something useful.
Color and data visualization are the topics I care most about, so much so that I wrote a book about color specifically. It’s called ColorWise: A Data Storyteller’s Guide to the Intentional Use of Color, published by O’Reilly, and it covers the theory, psychology, and culture behind color choices in charts. This course is what happens when you take that same obsession and add AI into the workflow, because AI is now genuinely good at the parts of chart making that used to take a lot of time and effort.
Get in early
The challenge runs one lesson per day for five days, and it works best if you do the small action after each video instead of binge watching the whole thing. Day 1 is live now, so start today!
